Since the collapse of Communism, more and more people are travelling to Russia to experience the country's unique culture, and of course visit their ladies. However, there is still an enormous amount of bureaucracy involved in getting there. In order to obtain your visa you need to present a set of documents. Most important of all is the tourist confirmation (for tourists) Only accredited organisations can issue these, this is often referred to as your 'invitation' or “visa support documents”. A letter from an individual or Russian company is not a valid invitation. Confirmation of a hotel booking alone is also not sufficient to count as an "invitation".
