 1. Do Not Send Money. Just like anywhere, there are honest people and there are dishonest people. The point of your correspondence is to develop a special relationship with an FSU woman, not to purchase one. We want you to be aware that women you contact from other sites may ask you for money for one reason or another, blind Grandamother's operation, or some other alleged catastrophe is the usual purpose. Remember it is a matter of pride for any honest Russian and Ukrainian woman that no matter how badly off she may be financially, if she is truly interested in you, she will NOT ask you for money in the early stages. It is that simple. If you are asked for money it should immediately set off alarms and you should proceed very cautiously. There are instances where there may be a valid reason to send a small amount of money to someone with whom you have been corresponding (and speaking on the telephone) with for some time, use wise judgement in any money sending situation. Never send money for tickets or visas to a woman you have never actually physically met.

 2. Send her the very best photo of yourself that you can find. This is not one of you and your mates drinking down the pub, one of you with your arm around some girl, one with sunglasses, or one you need to squint so hard your eyes fall out to see what you look like. If you don't have a good one, consider having a professional one made. Don't make the mistake of writing to a beautiful Russian woman and sending her a poor quality photo of yourself.  3. Honesty is the best policy and lies are always discovered. Try to avoid using four or five syllable words; instead of impressing her, you will probably just confuse her. Avoid local slang, Americanisms and double meanings.

We suggest that you register a separate email account (for example, at Yahoo or Easy.com) for your initial campaign, this way, you will be able to track the results better, and also close it down when you have found your one and only. Any advertising campaign brings plenty of spam mail, and publishing your real email address is unwise especially if advertising yourself also on free sites and Russian Agencies.

 9. Try to keep the initial letter reasonable in length. Do not blather on for six pages about your sports car, your holiday home or how George at work is a git because he never refills the coffee machine. You certainly don't want to be discussing things like marriage and what your children might look like in your first letter either! You may want to tell her a little about yourself, where you were raised, and what type of education you have. Write a little about your interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes. Basically, just write about things that you would normally talk about on a first date.

10. Make sure you ask her plenty of questions about herself in your first letter. Open questions that encourage a detailed reply. People like to know that others are interested in them and their activities. By asking questions about her she will think that you are interested in her as a person and she will want to respond to you immediately. Do not tell her how beautiful she is in your first letter, touch upon it subtely if you must but generally try to (between the lines) convince her that her long slim legs and small waist are not high on your agenda.

If you want to get a woman's attention make your letter happy and interesting! Tell her about yourself and where you live, what you like to do for fun, your goals and your ambitions in life, and especially tell her what you are looking for in a lady, gently alluding to how she seems to fit into that nicely. Most of all make it serious, or funny, or romantic. Don't make it dull or sound like a form letter. Women like to know lots of details so try to write things in a descriptive way so she can almost see and feel what it is that you are describing.

11. You may find it useful to do some independent research on the country and area of origin of the woman you are interested in. Not only will it impress the woman, but it may save you from committing a gaffe. You must always remember that this woman was raised in a totally different culture than your own. Did you go to University?
What was your area of study?
Are you religious, do you attend church ever?
Do you like dogs?
What does a girl wear when meeting a man for the first time?
How should the man dress?

13. Be prepared to meet your chosen women. Unless you are willing to make the journey to meet your chosen lady, there is no real point in writing to a lady in the first place, so consider this when you start writing to her. Letter writing is fine, up to a point, until you've got to know her. At some point you have to meet her and decide, or someone else will do it for you and you will have lost her.

14. Don't delay your visit to see her personally. The average time between beginning of e-mail exchanging and the visit to see a lady is about 4-6 months. Remember that she joined a dating service, not a pen pal club. She does not want to write to a Keyboard Romeo for months and months. One visit is worth hundreds of letters.

15. DON'T send pictures of your houses, cars or boats in the early stages of your correspondence, it will look like you are trying to buy her and not want her to fall in love with you for who you are. It may also attract the wrong type of woman.

16. DON'T ask woman about sex and fantasies in the first letter. Maybe it's OK to discuss it at a later stage, but it's not common in Russia to open your heart and thoughts to a stranger at once.

17. Write to women who will fit into your lifestyle. If you live in the country, far away from larger cities avoid writing to the ladies who list their hobbies as theater, galleries and city activities. Instead write to ones who enjoy nature, animals, may be gardening & outdoor activities. Big city girls seldom want to live in Hicksville but often Village girls will relish the idea of a city.

18. Be patient. This is an important process and the results of the decision that you make will be far reaching and long lasting. Take the time to correspond and preferably visit several women before committing to that special one. Unfortunately, the number of scam agencies has grown considerably in recent years. Many agencies try to 'lock you in' to make you spend more money with them. The most obvious scam is the agency will not let you have the women’s address or telephone number. You must use their expensive e-mail and translation services, match making or book an expensive tour. Do not do business with any Agency who refuses to let you have at an early stage the woman's direct contact information, or an agency who edits/censors or prohibits the exchange of same between consenting adults. If you progress beyond a couple of exchanges of letters at any agency, ask for the lady's full name, address and telephone number (or the number of a friend where you can ring her). If your woman will not give you this information she is either an internet spook, a scammer, or not interested in you. Maybe she is all three. You are wasting your time, move on.
